Recruitment Brief Builder

Recruitment Brief Builder

Define the appointment before you take it to market.

A role title rarely tells the whole story. A useful recruitment brief connects the business need to the outcomes expected, the experience required and the practical terms on which someone could join.

Use this free recruitment brief builder to bring those decisions into one structured document. Work through the mandate, candidate profile, location, package and assessment process, then download a professional PDF for internal review. For HR leaders and hiring managers in commodity and financial markets businesses, it provides a clearer starting point for agreeing the search.

About the brief and downloads

The builder turns your entries into a structured recruitment brief. It does not invent responsibilities, salary benchmarks or candidate availability. The prompts are a starting point; they do not verify commercial viability, legal compliance, market access or approval.

The PDF file contains your entered information and a list of core points to confirm. Empty optional fields are omitted. Salary amounts share the chosen currency label; no conversion is performed. Confidential details entered here are still included in your download, so review the document before sharing.

Save brief file downloads JSON that can be reopened in this tool. To revise your brief, reopen the saved brief file in this tool and download a new PDF. No messages are sent and no search is commissioned through this tool.

What You Can Define

The business mandate

Record the reason for the appointment, reporting line, responsibilities and expected outcomes. Explain what the person will own and how success should be assessed.

The relevant profile

Separate essential experience from preferences. Define product coverage, talent markets, adjacent backgrounds, location and the practical package parameters.

The assessment process

Identify the stakeholders, interview stages, evidence, references and approval route. Bring the agreed details and open questions into one shareable PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a job description generator?

It is a structured recruitment brief builder. It assembles what you enter into a document covering the business context, role, candidate requirements, package and assessment process. It does not invent responsibilities or rewrite your answers. You can use the brief to inform a separate job description or candidate pack.

Can I leave parts of the brief unresolved?

Yes. You can work through the sections in any order and export a draft before every issue is settled. The review highlights core prompts that still lack detail, and the PDF includes points to confirm. Empty optional fields are omitted.

Does completing all the prompts mean the brief is ready for search?

No. The checks identify missing text, rather than assessing clarity, commercial viability, market access or approval. Review the substance of the brief with the relevant stakeholders before sharing it or commissioning a search.

What does the downloaded PDF include?

It includes the company and project details, entered requirements, selected brief status and core points to confirm. The content uses plain professional formatting, with subtle Imperium Commodity Search text in the header and footer, page numbers and a website link.

Can I reopen and edit a brief later?

Yes. Save a brief file to download a JSON copy, then use Open brief file when you return. Revise the entries and download a new PDF. There is no automatic saving, and the PDF itself cannot be imported back into the form.

Can I use a confidential project name?

Yes. You can use an alias where appropriate. The tool processes your entries locally in the browser and does not send the brief to Imperium. Any confidential information you enter is still included in your downloads; choosing a confidentiality label does not redact it.

Can Imperium help refine and execute the brief?

Yes. We can discuss the proposed remit, investigate the relevant talent market, benchmark compensation where commissioned and refine the approach before candidate engagement. The agreed brief can then form the basis of a retained search or a wider Search Partnership. Completing this tool does not commission a search.

The search takes its direction from the brief. Make that direction count.

Bring the Brief. We Will Help Test the Market.

Move from an internal requirement to a focused, research-led search.

A clear brief gives the search direction. Direct market research helps establish whether that direction is realistic, where the relevant experience sits and what will make the opportunity credible to the right people.

Imperium can support the work before launch, from viability and compensation research to competitor and talent mapping, then execute the agreed search across commodity and financial markets. Share the brief as a starting point for that discussion.
