Map your existing team, plan future hires and understand the cost of your proposed structure.

Build an organisation chart from scratch, showing your current team, reporting lines and planned appointments. Group positions by department, set hiring priorities and choose whether to include salary, bonus and employer-cost assumptions.

Use structure-only mode to map your organisation, or switch on cost planning to separate fixed annual commitments from potential variable pay. Download your chart and Excel report, or save an editable plan file to continue later.

How the costs are calculated
  • Each position represents one person. Full-time annual base salary is multiplied by FTE.
  • Bonus can be a percentage of adjusted base, a fixed annual amount for the position, or a share of an entered annual P&L assumption. Fixed and P&L-linked bonuses are not automatically pro-rated by FTE.
  • Fixed cost includes adjusted base, employer costs on base and other recurring fixed costs. Guaranteed bonuses and associated employer costs are also fixed. Non-guaranteed bonuses and their employer costs form the variable scenario.
  • Employer on-costs are the entered percentage of adjusted base plus assumed bonus. Enter an appropriate planning assumption; this tool does not calculate local employment taxes.
  • Other annual fixed costs are added once per position. All roles are costed for a full year. Start dates, recruitment fees, revenue and other business overheads are excluded.
  • P&L scenarios do not infer thresholds, caps, desk allocations or contractual terms. Use the profit basis relevant to your proposed arrangement.
  • Excel summary formulas cover the exported rows. If you add rows or change department groupings offline, extend the relevant summaries.

What You Can Plan

01 / Your current team

Make the Structure Clear

Build an organisation chart showing existing employees, departments and reporting lines. Bring the current structure into one view for management discussions and workforce reviews.

02 / Your next appointments

Map the Team You Need

Add planned hires alongside your existing team, define who they will report to and assign hiring priorities. Explore how new appointments would fit as your business develops.

03 / Your workforce budget

Understand the Cost

Switch on cost planning to model salaries, bonuses and employer costs by position and department. Separate fixed annual commitments from variable pay assumptions before agreeing a budget.

Use the planner for any sector or team structure. Cost figures reflect your own assumptions, rather than market salary benchmarks.

Using the Workforce Planner

Is the organisation chart and cost planner free to use?

Yes. You can build your structure, explore cost assumptions and download your chart and Excel report without registering or commissioning a service from Imperium.

Can I build an organisation chart without entering salaries?

Yes. The planner starts in Structure only mode. Add your current team, planned hires, departments and reporting lines without entering financial information. Switch on Structure & costs whenever you want to explore the budget.

Can I include existing employees and planned hires?

Yes. Existing positions can include an employee name. Planned hires receive numbered labels and a hiring priority, helping you distinguish the current team from the appointments you are considering. Department colours and separate status strips make the chart easier to follow.

How does the planner treat bonuses and employer costs?

You can model a bonus as a percentage of base salary, a fixed annual amount or a share of an entered P&L assumption. Guaranteed bonuses and their associated employer costs are included in fixed costs. Other bonuses and their employer costs appear separately as a variable scenario.

Employer on-costs use the percentage you enter. The planner does not calculate local payroll taxes or infer bonus caps, hurdles or the likelihood of a payout.

Are the cost figures based on salary benchmarks?

No. The planner calculates costs from your inputs. Any example figures are fictional planning assumptions, rather than market salary guidance. Imperium can provide separately commissioned salary and compensation benchmarking where you need evidence to test those assumptions.

What can I download?

You can download a branded organisation chart and an Excel report containing your structure and relevant planning information. Cost-enabled reports also include financial summaries and editable cost assumptions. Structure-only downloads exclude financial inputs.

The chart is a snapshot. Changing spreadsheet cells will not redraw it; update the planner and export again to refresh the diagram.

Can I save my plan and return to it later?

Yes. Select Save plan file to download an editable copy, then use Open plan file when you return. There is no automatic browser storage, so save before leaving the page.

If you want to retain your financial assumptions in the saved file, switch on Structure & costs before saving. Structure-only files deliberately exclude them.

Does Imperium receive the information I enter?

The planner processes your entries locally in your browser. Its code does not send the company details, employee names or cost assumptions you enter to Imperium. You choose whether to download or share the files you create.

Can Imperium help turn the plan into a hiring programme?

Yes. For commodity and financial markets businesses, we can assess the proposed hiring brief, benchmark remuneration, map relevant talent and execute agreed appointments through retained search or a Search Partnership. Research can also be commissioned separately through Imperium Edge.

The strength of your next chapter starts with the people you build it around.

Turn Your Team Plan Into a Hiring Strategy

Test the assumptions. Understand the market. Secure the people.

Your plan sets out the structure you want to build. Imperium can help establish whether the talent is available, how your proposed packages compare and which appointments should come first.

We combine commodity and financial markets research with direct competitor mapping and retained search. From validating a single role to supporting an evolving hiring programme, we can help you refine the brief and secure the people needed to deliver it.
