Title: Shipping / Vessel Operator (Coal Desk)
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Zug, Switzerland
Salary: Negotiable
Imperium Commodity Search is working with a multinational trading house in Switzerland, currently seeking a shipping operator to join their coal desk. The position will be closely supporting the front office trading team on coal logistics, shipping, execution and traffic duties.
Responsibilities:
- Manage shipping operations, ensuring smooth day to day operations of coal vessels
- Work with front office trading teams to ensure vessels/logistics provisions are in place in a timely manner
- Handle nominations and perform lay-time calculations within coal
- Contracts administration across payments and freight invoices
- Manage cargo intake, availability and allocations to ensure cost effective and efficient coal trading operations/logistics and shipping
- Assist in ad-hoc coal logistics, supply chain, shipping and traffic operations duties as and where required
Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a shipping/time charter operations position on a dry desk (ideally coal, metal or related commodity product)
- Experience on IMOS vessel operations systems/related software
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal (additional languages are beneficial but not essential for the role)
- Proven experience in physical shipping/logistics and commodity supply chain
- Knowledge of the coal markets and operational nichés within coal trading
- Experienced in a fast paced desk, supporting traders and managing back to back trading operations
- Laytime calculation and freight invoicing experience
