Title: Senior Steel Trading Manager
Location: Saudi Arabia
Salary: circa 150-180k USD base

Imperium Commodity Search is representing a global steel trading business, seeking a senior steel trading professional to spearhead their entry to the Saudi Arabian market, particularly in the API/Pipes sector.  Our client is an international trading business with an established presence in a number of key markets, and has recently created this position in Saudi Arabia to increase their penetration in the region.

As a result of this business critical hire, we are seeking experienced steel traders/steel trading managers who have several years experience working in the Saudi Arabian markets, particularly in pipes/API products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships and grow the trading desk in Saudi Arabia, onboarding suppliers and customers for the purchase and sale of steel products, particularly pipes
  • Work with senior management on recommending and building a trading/growth strategy for the region, in line with company profile
  • Grow the trading business/export business to circa 100,000MT of product annually
  • Identify new customer profiles, and actively develop business relationship on both the sales and sourcing side of the trading business
  • Build relationships directly with Saudi Arabian Steel Mills
  • Ensure smooth contract/operational execution and work to minimise the risk profile of the book

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years in a steel trading function, ideally in a management/senior trading role
  • Excellent knowledge of the Saudi Arabian markets
  • Good understanding of the technical detail around pipes/API products
  • Good knowledge of INCOTERMS/UCP/LCs etc.
  • Exposure to steel trading in the broader region is beneficial, but not required
  • Strong ability to build relationships and maintain long term counterparties in the steel trading space
