Imperium Commodity Search

Senior Physical Gasoline | USGC/NE Products Broker

Contract type: Permanent

Location: United States – location flexible for the right individual

Retained & Exclusive Vacancy

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a growing, privately held and independent US commodity brokerage. As part of the continued expansion of its physical energy offering, our client is seeking an experienced Physical Gasoline Broker to join the business and develop a profitable, long-term brokerage franchise.

The firm has been deliberately built as a grown-up brokerage for experienced market professionals. Brokers are trusted to use their judgement, decide where to focus and develop their business without unnecessary layers of management or corporate bureaucracy. This autonomy sits alongside a genuinely collaborative culture, with brokers expected to share market intelligence, relationships and opportunities across the wider physical products, biofuels and environmental platform.

This opportunity will suit an established broker who has credible market relationships and wants greater ownership over the direction of their desk. The successful individual will have the freedom to focus on the products, counterparties and trading routes where they see the strongest commercial opportunity, while receiving the operational, compliance and management support required to grow.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a profitable brokerage book across physical gasoline and related US Gulf Coast/NE refined products.
  • Facilitate transactions between refiners, trading houses, blenders, wholesalers, marketers, distributors and other physical market participants.
  • Provide clients with accurate price discovery, market colour, bids, offers and information on physical flows and trading activity.
  • Maintain and develop existing relationships while opening new accounts and increasing participation across the desk.
  • Identify opportunities across gasoline blendstocks, components and other related physical products, based on your existing market expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with the firm’s biofuels, RINs and environmental market specialists to identify relevant cross-selling opportunities.
  • Coordinate with operations, compliance and senior management to open trading lines and support the efficient execution of physical business.
  • Contribute to the longer-term development of the physical products business, including potential additional hires where commercially justified.

Requirements:

  • Established experience within physical gasoline, refined products or US Gulf Coast/North-East commodity brokerage.
  • A proven track record of generating brokerage revenue and maintaining relationships with active physical market participants.
  • Strong understanding of USGC/NE gasoline markets, physical pricing, regional flows, product specifications and relevant logistics.
  • Transferable client relationships or a credible active network, subject to existing contractual obligations.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify profitable, repeatable brokerage opportunities.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously and taking responsibility for the direction and performance of your market.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to share opportunities across adjacent energy and environmental desks.
  • High standards of integrity, discretion and client service.

This is not a heavily prescribed seat where an experienced broker will be told how to run their market. The management team provides the platform, support and freedom for good brokers to do their jobs properly, while maintaining a team-led approach across the wider business.
