Job Title:  Senior Food Products Trader

Salary: Negotiable

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Flexible, UK

Imperium Commodity Search is working with a globally renowned commodity trading company seeking experienced physical traders with existing and transferable portfolios in the Food & Ingredients space to join their expanding team. With over ten locations globally and an ever-increasing domestic presence, this company can also consider candidates working as local agents in their respective European target markets.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of food products (e.g. dairy, fruit, sweeteners, vegetables, sugar, preservatives, ingredients etc.) within the European market
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with new and existing clients while seeking new product and market opportunities
  • Performing regular market research to assess current pricing trends and managing potential business risk
  • Working closely with shipping/logistics departments to ensure timely, accurate trades
  • Responsible for building a profitable trading book in the targeted region
  • Monitor and analyse export and import data, providing accurate market analysis and data

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience trading/selling food products within the agricultural/commodities industry (e.g. dairy, fruit, sweeteners, vegetables, sugar, preservatives, ingredients etc.)
  • Candidate must have existing (and ideally transferrable) relevant relationships, ideally within the Dairy space
  • A background in trading food products to wholesale/cash-and-carry/distribution industries etc.
  • Fluency in English is essential, other European languages are a plus
  • Knowledge of the global Dairy markets
  • Experience with commodity derivates / hedging is a plus
  • Good fundamental knowledge of the commodity markets as well as a strong numerical and economic background.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly
  • Ideally will be located in the UK with full existing right to work – candidates in other countries may also be considered on a remote / agent basis
