Title: Senior Back to Back Bunker Trader
Contract type: Permanent

Salary: Negotiable – Dependent on Experience

Imperium Commodity Search is working closely with an established bunker and marine fuel trading and shipping company looking to increase their portfolio across back to back trading.  To facilitate the next phase of this growth, our client is looking to add an experienced senior bunker / marine fuel trader to their growing London office.  Due to the nature of the expansion, our client is set up to offer a platform to trade bunkers on a back to back basis in most regions globally and can bespoke a position for a trade with a book of business that needs a vessel.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively grow the business across back to back trading of marine fuel and bunkers, maintaining close relationships across MFO, MGO, Bunker and Lubricant suppliers and end users
  • Manage the London desk and grow the presence of the back to back bunker trading business across the European markets (or alternative geography)
  • Efficiently deal with incoming bunker fuel enquiries and ensure timely delivery/movement of marine fuel
  • Negotiate supply agreements with physical suppliers in ports where the company does not have assets to ensure higher margins/PnL on the desk
  • Monitor ongoing market analysis and advisory to make the most of trading opportunities, keeping a close eye on shipping news, events and regulation changes to stay at the forefront of the industry

Experience:

  • More than 5 years’ in a back to back bunker / marine fuel trading role
  • Transferable book of clients with a network of established shipping connections is compulsory
  • Extensive knowledge of bunker markets legislation including IMO 2020
  • Knowledge and use of hedging and pricing tools to facilitate advantageous and effective trades of bunker / marine fuels and lubricants
  • Fluency in English is necessary with an additional language preferable
