Imperium Commodity Search is working with a privately owned international bunker trading firm looking to grow their US Market presence through the addition of a marine fuel/bunker trader in Houston.  Our client has a global back to back trading reach as well as physical supply assets in ports globally.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the back to back bunker / marine fuel and lubricants trading desk in Houston
  • Work closely with operational teams to facilitate smooth back to back bunker trading activity
  • Build relationships with ship owners/charterers and bunker purchases
  • Maintain relationships with physical suppliers/terminals for the sourcing of bunker/marine fuel
  • Expand the back to back bunker trading activity in the region for the firm, working with senior management on the expansion of the US bunker trading book
  • Quickly respond to enquiries and strive for best in class response times to trading enquiries/supply enquiries
  • Keep up to date with market news/analysis and capitalise on trading opportunities in the marine fuel space

Experience:

  • 3-5 years+ experience in a back to back/end to end bunker trading environment
  • Experience with building/maintaining relationships in the marine fuel and bunker space
  • Proven track record / PnL in back to back bunker trading
  • Excellent knowledge of the bunker markets, 2020 legislation and trends within marine fuel
  • Fluent in English (Spanish a benefit but not essential)
  • Good relationships with supply terminals and ship owners in the US market/region and Houston port area
