Title: Non-Ferrous Scrap Metal Trader
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Bonus
Location: Zurich, Switzerland

Imperium Commodity Search are working with a global Metals trading house looking to expand their scrap desk across Non-ferrous metal, specifically in copper & Aluminium. The opportunity is for somebody to be based out of Zurich, working as a mid/senior level trader with a focus on developing a profitable trading book – they also have a location in Cardiff, Wales for which they can consider candidates from UK.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building a profitable book trading non-ferrous scrap metals (aluminium, copper etc.) sourcing and selling B2B & managing own PnL
  • Focus on building relationships with customers and end users to support increasing the company’s market share in target markets
  • Stay informed of changes and trends in the Scrap Metals markets in order to identify new business opportunities and mitigate risk
  • Work closely with operations and logistics teams to ensure a timely and smooth supply chain
  • Prospecting for clients and business development (cold calling, qualifying, building the pipeline of deal)
  • Monitoring and analyzing market performance internationally and communicating it to customers
  • Networking to attract new clients, to build and maintain relationships with existing customers

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience trading non-ferrous scrap metals (ideally aluminium and/or copper) with a track record of success / positive PnL.
  • Ideal experience is in aluminium and / or copper scrap products – must have an existing portfolio / network in EMEA
  • Degree in Sustainable Finance, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, Business, Commodity Trading
  • Confident, adaptable, builds relationships easily and interacts well under pressure
  • Excellent practical knowledge of the scrap metal market across Europe
  • Experienced closing deals and onboarding new clients
  • Technical understanding of derivatives and financial derivatives (futures, options, swaps) is a plus
  • Fluency in English; fluency in other European languages (German, Italian, French etc.) will be an added advantage
