Title: Metals Broker (Battery Raw Materials)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive + Bonus

Location: London, UK

Imperium Commodity Search is working with a global commodity brokerage who are leading the way in both physical and derivative markets for biofuels, carbon and agriculture. They are currently looking for someone to join their expanding team in London and to grow their presence within the European battery raw materials space – the ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of / experience in both physical and derivative markets of battery raw materials, specifically nickel, cobalt and lithium.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Continually speaking to customers, negotiating and closing deals in derivative and physical markets relating to battery metals (nickel, cobalt, lithium etc.) and more generally electric vehicle materials

  • Prospecting for clients and business development (cold calling, qualifying, building the pipeline of deal)
  • Monitoring and analyzing market performance internationally and communicating it to customers
  • Writing daily market updates, news summaries, performing forward curve assessments and producing daily market letters
  • Networking to attract new clients, to build and maintain relationships with existing customers
  • Engaging with battery metals market players, relevant PRA agencies, analysts, and exchanges to evaluate and identify the need for new derivatives contracts in the space

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in brokering, sales or trading battery metals with a track record of success.
  • Ideal experience is in Cobalt, Lithium, Nickel, Battery Graphite or Aluminium though other metals can be considered – must have an existing portfolio / network
  • Degree in Sustainable Finance, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, Business, Commodity Trading
  • Ideally worked to develop a new market in a previously relevant role
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Commercial mindset and hunger to succeed in a competitive commission-based environment
  • Solid understanding of the markets and related terminology
  • Ability to multitask and quickly understand and analyse complex information
  • Confident, adaptable, builds relationships easily and interacts well under pressure
  • Technical understanding of derivatives and financial derivatives (futures, options, swaps)
  • Fluency in English; fluency in Mandarin will be an added advantage
