Title: Metal Ores Operations Specialist

Imperium Commodity Search are working with a family-owned metals & minerals trading company, headquartered in Switzerland, currently looking for experienced operators to join their expanding teams in Dubai, South Africa & Switzerland and to grow their presence within the global metals & mining space – the ideal candidate will have strong experience handling the entire physical supply chain from mine to end user in African markets, ideally in the ores and/or concentrates space, specifically with chrome & manganese.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for handling entire supply chain and physical operations for all concentrates / ore products (chrome ore, iron ore, manganese ore etc.) across Africa, APAC and further destination markets.
  • Working closely with Traders to ensure all physical trades across bulk materials are executed efficiently and timely.
  • Drafting and executing contracts for the trading desk
  • Handle relations with Banks / financial institutes / 3rd Parties in relation to letters of credit (LC’s).
  • Work closely with Internal Back office and Finance teams to ensure all operations task are completed compliantly and effectively.
  • Manage relationships with external shipping agencies, charterers, logistics firms, End Users and Customers across all Products.
  • Ensure best practice for all trade documentations adhering to different regulations and logistical Scenarios across various countries / regions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ working within commodity operations handling / focusing on concentrates / ore products (chrome ore, iron ore, manganese ore etc.)
  • Solid experience handling and drafting letters of Credit (LC’s) for international transactions along with working alongside trade finance teams.
  • Ideal candidate will have existing connections (ports, end users, ship owners etc.) in African markets
  • Proven experience managing relations and processes with Ship operators / Owners / Logistics Company’s / Customers / End Users.
  • Proven track record working within an international trading company within an Operations role, Understanding relevant documentation and compliance requirements for the Commodity sector.
  • Effectively executed operational tasks across Europe, Africa & Far East
  • Experience dealing with banks and financial institutions
  • Willing to work as part of a smaller, collaborative team
  • Fluent in English, additional languages a bonus (Spanish, French, Mandarin)
