Imperium Commodity Search is retained by a major brokerage leading the way in the commodity and financial markets globally, as they continue their aggressive growth strategy the opportunity has arisen for Junior Broker to join the fuel oil desk. With a successful team covering both the Derivative and Physical fuel oil markets across two locations, they continue to increase their market share and service offerings to their clients. With the increase in business, we are seeking a Junior Broker to assist in the further development of this market.

Responsibilities: 

• Work closely with the team across both the Paper and Physical fuel oil markets shadowing Senior broker in service offerings to clients.
• Assist the desk in providing Voice/Electronic execution services, facilitating physical and derivative (Futures, Swaps, Options) Trades within the Fuel Oil market.
• Keep up to date and provide accurate market analysis, reports, pricing spreads, research and industry news across the Fuel Oil and wider Energy markets to the desk and counterparties. Ability to cross reference analysis from research houses and platforms such as Reuters, Bloomberg etc.
• Key understanding of market flows, hedging, risk management, and Energy derivative products (Futures, Options, Swaps) within Fuel Oil markets and related products (Marine Fuel, LSFO, Kerosene, Gasoline, Bunkers, Heating Oil etc.)
• Identify opportunities for the desk to upsell and cross-sell within the wider business, maintaining communication with other internal departments and desks.
• Assist the desk on processing, trade entry in an efficient and timely manner across OTC/Exchange trades, using internal and external systems/platforms.
• Act as a point of contact for clients on the execution desk, handling client follow ups, enquiries, confirmations, onboarding assistance and ad-hoc assistance to the desk and clients when required.
• Develop key understanding of business development and brokering skills and fundamentals to build up your own client portfolio within the Fuel Oil markets (Suppliers, Trading houses, Refiners, Majors, Energy retailers, Shipping companies etc)

Experience:

• 1+ years’ experience in a broking / brokering/ Middle office/ Broker Assistant, capacity within an IDB/FCM/Physical shop covering the Energy or commodity markets.
• Strong passion for commodity markets with relative understanding of the Energy sector.
• Ability to work in a faced paced, high-pressure environment whilst managing multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Degree educated in a relative field preferable (Energy, Finance, Economics, Commodities, International trade etc.)
• Understanding of the Energy derivatives markets (Futures, Swaps, Options)
• US Citizenship or existing work permit required
