Title: Junior Freight Trader (Cape/Panamax)
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Zug, Switzerland

Imperium Commodity Search is representing a globally active trading house seeking to increase the headcount on their freight trading desk with the addition of a junior freight trader covering Cape and Panamax class ships.  This opportunity suits a candidate with 3 years experience in a freight trading role, seeking a larger sized trading house for the next phase of their career.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal trading and chartering teams on administrative and pricing tasks for both internal and agency voyage rates
  • Trade freight positions alongside senior freight trading partners on the desk
  • Bunker management and trading marine fuel positions for the internal fleet as well as some external shipping agency
  • Hedge freight positions through FFA (forward freight agreement) trading
  • Build and maintain a profitable trading desk on Panamax/Capesize trading routes

Requirements:

  • 3 years experience in a commercially focused freight trading position
  • Exposure to Capesize and Panamax freight
  • Good understanding of hedging/risk management across freight/FFAs
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal (additional languages beneficial but not essential for the role)
  • Ability to work in a high paced trading environment
