Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by one of the oldest independent soft commodity trading houses in Britain, as they seek to utilise their healthy financial position to grow their front office trading team further.  With a longstanding team of 5 traders covering the nuts and dried fruits market, our client is seeking to grow into new containerised soft commodity/ingredient products that fit into their extensive client portfolio.

With a small team and collaborative culture, our client bucks the trend of obscure, confusing & discretionary bonuses, paying out a direct percentage of PnL to their traders on top of a generous basic salary.   Boasting market leading financial leadership and a strong, longstanding market presence, they are seeking an experienced trader in a closely linked commodity area (fruits, ingredients, pulses, seeds, spices, organics etc.)

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Build/port a profitable book of back-to-back soft commodity/ingredients trading business
• Develop relationships with producers/processors/confectioners etc. for the sale of soft commodity & ingredients products (nuts, fruits, pulses, seeds, additives, spices, ingredients etc.)
• Ensure efficient/timely supply and warehousing, working with internal operations and logistics team to provide smooth and effective supply chain of target soft commodity products
• Keep informed of market movements, analysis and pressures within the soft commodity markets to capitalise on sourcing/sales and trade opportunities across your commodity asset class
• Where required, attend industry conferences and events to expand the presence and brand recognition of the trading firm
• Work with senior management on new flows and trading opportunities, be it geography, product or customer type

Experience:

• 4+ years’ experience in a soft commodity/ingredients physical trading position in a related asset class
• Excellent network of suppliers in target soft/agricultural commodity (nuts, pulses, seeds, ingredients etc.)
• Strong analytical mindset/understanding of the soft commodity markets
• Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong drive to grow a containerised soft commodity desk within a team of likeminded folk
• Knowledge of logistics/operations around the soft commodity market trade flows
• Located in London, or able to relocate
