Head of Operations

Title: Head of Logistics and Operations

Imperium Commodity Search is currently working with a physical trading house covering metallurgical and agri commodity products. With global offices their offering includes, ferroalloys, non-ferrous, pig iron, steel, bulk commodities, nuts, and dried fruit.  To facilitate the next phase of growth our client is seeking to add a head of logistics and operations to their London based team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing companies’ operations and logistics department
• Deal with letters of credit, contract execution, trade finance and trade documents
• Be able to use knowledge of modern software solutions to revamp and streamline current practices
• Deal with vessels, manage logistical processes/issues
• Attend meetings with desk head, management, and shareholders
• Manage, support, and allocate tasks to the small team ops/logistics team making changes where necessary
• Make regular communication with ports to ensure documents are in order
• Ensure packing/delivery/transport of goods are carried out as contracted and in line with regulations
• Negotiate rates and costs with counterparties to ensure best deals for business

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior operations/logistics position within a physical trading house
• Sound knowledge of L/C’s, trade finance, contract execution and trade documents
• Understanding of an agri/metal trading environment
• Proven experience managing processes with shipping companies and logistics providers
• Previously managed a small team (circa 4 people)
• Experience dealing with banks and financial institutions
• Knowledge of modern software solutions
