Job Title:  Grain Trader (Wheat & Corn)
Salary: Negotiable
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Minneapolis, MN USA (Mid-West)

Imperium Commodity Search is working with a mid sized grain trading desk and processor in Minneapolis looking to extend their trading reach through the addition of a domestic (truck and rail) and export grain trader.  Our client is active on the domestic US market and has ambition to develop export trading into Europe over 2020.  Primarily active within corn and wheat, our client has production facilities across the US for processing of wheat and corn products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with producers/farmers in the US market across wheat and corn
  • Purchase domestic wheat and corn and negotiate supply agreements at competitive rates
  • Develop relationships with end users, processors and buyers of grain and agricultural products (wheat and corn) and negotiate terms/pricing
  • Stay informed and up to date with market movements and analysis, capitalising on trading opportunity
  • Work closely with the logistics and operations team to ensure timely and effective trading
  • Actively grow the physical back to back grain trading book and drive PnL across the desk

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience of trading the required agri and grain products; wheat and corn
  • Good network and contacts book across the Midwest US
  • Export trading experience on wheat, corn, grain and agricultural products beneficial
  • Good knowledge of logistics/operations
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated experience in running a book/PnL responsible on a grain trading desk (wheat and corn)
  • Good understanding of the wheat and corn markets, analysis and price/market drivers
  • Futures/Options or Hedging experience is a benefit but not critical
  • Fluent in English (Other languages may be beneficial)
