Title: Head Edible Nut Trader
Location: United States (Arkansas or Remote)
Salary: Negotiable (newly created position)
Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a multi-product soft commodity trading house, seeking an experienced edible nut/tree nut trader to establish a new-to-firm desk. Our client is a small-mid sized trading house focused on food/agri commodities into the retail/production and processing sector, with well established desks in pulses, sweeteners and additives.
With a grown-up approach to trading, this role presents autonomy and responsibility for the edible nuts sector, and suits a trader who has a strong network (domestic or export/import business) with the ability and desire to lead a desk/project int he sector.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish an edible nuts trading desk covering tree nuts (almonds, brazil, cashew, hazelnuts, macadamia, pecans, walnuts, pistachios etc.) in the US, acting as subject matter expert for all edible nuts related business
- Actively promote edible nut products into client base spanning producers, retailers and wholesalers
- Foster relationships at all stages of the trading cycle, meeting with suppliers/customers and maintaining business channels for the sale and purchase of tree nuts
- Work with internal logistics and finance teams to ensure smooth, timely and cost effective trade flow, responding to enquiries and problems swiftly
- Cross-sell with existing teams/desks to promote volumes of edible nuts to both existing and new clients
- Keep up to date with market intelligence and news to direct trading strategy
- Drive new supplier and customer relationships across North America/USA markets in edible nuts/tree nuts
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a trading or related position, handling sales/trading into wholesalers and distributors in the North American market across the edible nuts/tree nuts sector
- Excellent understanding of logisitcs/operational aspects of edible nut/tree nut trading
- Superb communication skills with a proven ability to onboard and retain clients/suppliers in edible nuts
- Personable and tenacious in approach, with the desire to work in a grown-up environment with like-minded traders
- Good fundamental knowledge of edible nuts
