Title: Operations Officer – Commodities/Brokerage
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Shanghai, China
Salary: in region of 200,000RMB
Imperium Commodity Search is working with a global financial institution with an established commodity and derivatives desk in Shanghai, China. To facilitate their continued growth in the region, the need has arisen for an operations officer to join their commodity derivatives desk to support the physical/cash grains business; ensuring all contracts, administration and correspondence is handled in a timely and efficient manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage the creation and administration of broker contracts and agreements
- Monitor market activity/movements to assist in brokerage decisions and market insight for clients
- Prepare and distribute market commentary reports and insights
- Collate and prepare data on internal systems pertaining to client details, trades, communications and contracts as required
- Assist in record keeping and audit tasks for grains brokerage desk
- Operations management across administration tasks
- Act in a client-facing manner where required, offering operational support and assistance
- Enter and update trades in internal software system
- Assist in ad-hoc administrative and operational tasks where required for brokers on the physical grains desk
Requirements:
- 1-2+ years’ in a like role; within a brokerage or trading house managing operations and administrative tasks
- Exposure to the agricultural, foods or meat markets beneficial
- Proficient with computer software (databases, office suite etc.)
- Interest in global trade, derivatives and financial institutions
- Familiar with payment terms, LCs and other documentation related to physical trade, trading and brokerage
- Proactive and efficient; the ability to support a rapidly moving brokerage/sales desk in soft commodities and agriculture
