Imperium Commodity Search is representing a global commodity brokerage and financial institution in their hiring plans for a commodity market analyst covering the Chinese market from thier Shanghai office.  Our client is seeking an analyst with experience across the soft & agricultural commodity import/exports market in China who can present market data and insight to clients of the brokerage team.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Source relevant market data and insight for the target commodity classes (soft commodities, ags, meat, pork, swine, dairy, oilseeds, grain etc.) within China
  • Conduct research exercises to generate relevant data for client projects and business development purposes
  • Work with internal brokers and account managers on bespoke data requirements for commodity trading, production and processing clients in and around China
  • Write bespoke reports in market movements, supply and demand and pricing analysis for commodities
  • Keep up to date with market news, insight and analysis across commodities (grains, ags, meats etc.)

Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ experience in a market analyst position with a trading house, research house or brokerage
  • Good knowledge of the Chinese commodity trading markets, specifically the agricultural and soft commodity sphere
  • Excellent office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Power BI/data analytics and processing tools and software
  • Ability to present data in a clear and professional way
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin/Chinese
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
