Imperium Commodity Search is working with a fast-growing trading house headquartered in South Africa. We are looking for an experienced Trader covering minor/base metal ores/concentrates to join their South Africa or Singapore team.

Responsibilities:

• Trading physical base metal/minor concentrates/ores (copper, zinc, aluminum, lead, tin, vanadium)
• Build and maintain relationship with mining companies and mines on the ground in Africa (primarily South Africa, Namibia, Angola etc.)
• Market/Sell ores and concentrates across base metal products from mines in Africa
• Actively build relationships with smelters across Africa and Asia for the sale of base/ minor metal concentrates and ores
• Stay up to date on market analysis and movements to ensure trading opportunity is utilised
• Work with senior management on new product areas, geographical coverage and trading growth across base/minor metal concentrates and ores
• Manage relationships with external counterparties on testing/concentrates analysis and feedback to clients/customers and ensure quality controls/checks are implemented across the metals desk

Experience:

• 5 or more years’ experience in a back to back trading role covering metal ores and concentrates in the African/Asian markets
• Excellent knowledge of African/Asian markets essential
• Good relationships with smelters and mines across African/ Asian countries Sound understanding of base metal/ minor products and operational procedures
• Must be able to bring a transferable book of business in
• Be able to grow and manage own physical trading portfolio
