Imperium Commodity Search is retained by one of the global leaders in risk management, hedging and derivatives brokerage solutions providers with a broad footprint across the global energy markets.  As part of a newly created team focused on small-cap and corporate energy clients, the requirement has arisen for a junior/associate OTC Sales Trader to join this rapidly growing profit centre.  Shadowing an incredibly experienced head of desk, you will be managing client flow, enquiries, administration and trade reconciliation whilst growing out your own book of business in the energy space.

The firm operates a global energy business servicing accounts across all corporate and institutional markets through clearing and execution, both listed and OTC.  With a joined up and cross-sell promoted culture, there is the ability to leverage upon a wealth of services and lines across the business.

This opportunity offers a springboard to rapid progression in a quick-growth and globally established brokerage firm for somebody with an energy/commodity trading focused degree or rotational/graduate experience in an OTC trading, brokerage, sales or execution position.  Being focused on the OTC risk management (futures and options) and hedging side of the business, the trades are lower volume but high margin; a perfect entry point into the brokerage markets with a sustained growth and progression pattern.

Responsibilities: 

• Shadow head of desk in client management, administration and onboarding across energy OTC execution clients (oil, gas and distillates trading houses, refineries and shipping businesses)
• Develop sales strategy for business development and onboarding of new small-cap energy clients
• Manage uploading of trade management and back end of trade cycle for OTC energy clients
• Price and execute in collaboration with the trading team on behalf of corporate OTC clients in the energy space
• Act as a point of contact/service for energy clients on the OTC execution desk
• Provide fluid onboarding and client management for derivatives futures and options energy OTC execution services
• Over time, develop your own portfolio of clients in the oil, gas and energy space for OTC hedging, risk management and execution services
• Provide ad-hoc assistance to the desk as required
• Liaise with teams in the wider business on cross-sell and upsell opportunities
• Keep up to date with market movements, anlysis and industry news across the oil, gas and energy trading, refining and downstream markets

Experience:

• Graduate experience in an Energy trading, brokerage, sales or execution business (in any front or middle office capacity)
• Good understanding of the energy and OTC trading markets
• People focussed with great customer service and sales skills
• Degree educated in related field (Energy Finance, Economics, International Trade, Commodities, Capital Markets etc.)
• Excellent communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail to ensure accurate trade administration/reporting
