 “Recruiters will be replaced by computers” has been uttered repeatedly since the first Rolodex got replaced by a PC in a recruitment office.  Whilst this has remained untrue, and probably always will, technology has had an undeniable impact on the way that recruitment is handled.  CV Databases now days are enormous.  CV Library has 15 million registered candidates on their database alone and hundreds of other such databases exist, including Indeed, eFinancialCareers and Naurki.  This means that there are a plethora of options for recruiters when it comes to finding candidates for their mandates through online systems.  

As with any artificial intelligence, the search functionality is only as good as the data which is held on the database.  If your CV is one of 15 million on a database and it doesn’t have the right keywording for an algorithm to pick it up, you may have never been contacted via one of these job boards.
